Strangeheart | Chicago Reader

This oddball video parody of Mel Gibson's Oscar winner Braveheart was staged by the Scottish, Irish, and English regulars of two pubs in Dallas, with whiskey on the house and financial backing provided by two adventurous real estate brokers. A faulty tape prevented my seeing the second half, but the first closely follows the plot of the original, with jokes that settle at the level of bestiality and cheerful manslaughter. Director Brian Hedenberg has thoughtfully booked this as a midnight show right across the street from the Red Lion Pub. 118 min.
