Sun Seekers

Made in 1958, Konrad Wolf's East German feature Sonnensucher ran afoul of Soviet censors with its story of a young girl struggling for sexual emancipation in a uranium-mining area and its handling of German-Soviet relations and Soviet interest in atomic warfare. It was finally released in 1972 and today is widely considered one of the key works in the cinema of the German Democratic Republic.
