To the editors:

With reference to your article on Rich M. Daley, you state in that article that Michael Bilandic was secretly sunning himself in Florida during the time of the snowstorm.

This is absolutely untrue.

Ms. Bilandic is absolutely correct. I apologize to Judge Bilandic and his family. While mayor, Judge Bilandic recalls, he took very little vacation--including none during the 1979 primary--and worked long and hard hours. He was done in by snow, not by sun.
