To the editors:

When Guild Books [Hot Type, November 15] declared itself at risk in this miserable economy, I began volunteering there. As a result I saw the effect of your reporting on Guild's plight: donations, customers, and other forms of support surged into the store.

Guild Books helps Chicago think--which is something we need to solve the problems of 1991, and unfortunately, 1992.

It's still uncertain whether Guild will survive--but how about an update? Your readers will want to know.
