If you stick around to the bitter end of George A. Romero's sixth zombie movie, you'll see that the production company was incorporated as "Blank of the Dead LLC." Unfortunately, no one seems to have filled in the blank. Having rebooted the franchise with Diary of the Dead (2007), Romero picks up his fresh story line again as a small squad of national guardsmen (who appeared briefly in the previous movie) travel to an island off the coast of Delaware and find it controlled by feuding Irish clans. Aside from some perfunctory finger wagging at mankind's tribalism, there's nothing here but the usual barrage of rude shocks and slapstick gore; at long last, the Dead series may be ready for that final bullet between the eyes.
