Symphony of the Soil

This documentary about the ecological importance of the earth's soil (2013) barely rates above a program on the Discovery Channel, but director Deborah Koons Garcia does offer some stunning vistas that span four continents: snowcapped Norwegian mountains, the Palouse in southeastern Washington, the Napa Valley. Unfortunately the tranquil landscape photography fails to redeem the monotonous formula of talking head interviews, archival footage, and sappy montages, or elevate Garcia's benign but obvious message.
