To the editors:

My editors wish me to point out that the opinions attributed to me in the July 24 Hot Type item "Comic Complications" are my own and do not represent the official position of the Daily Southtown Economist. Also, that the very idea of running a comic strip in order to spite the feature syndicate that distributes it is humorous on its face and was said tongue firmly in cheek. We would never be vindictive in our dealings with a syndicate--or anyone else for that matter--and, at this point, relations between the paper and the King Features Syndicate could not be better.
