Take in some art, prep for the kitsch Recommended Agenda

When: Thu., Dec. 22 2011

It's a mere three days till Christmas, so why not expose yourself to some refined art before being bombarded by holiday TV specials, sports upon sports, sappy and overwrought Christmas cards, and unfunny uncles? The group photo show at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (600 S. Michigan), "Crime Unseen," runs through January 15 and "looks at mayhem through the lens of the camera," and "Blaque Lyte"—up through January 9 at the Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S. Cornell)—"explores the visual properties and strange effects of the black light by presenting artwork specifically intended to be seen under ultraviolet rays" and features work from artists including Keith Herzik and Lilli Carré. —Kevin Warwick
