Hmmm ...

I was baffled after reading Richard Meltzer's front-page rant in the Reader's October 24 issue ["Mommy and Me"]. I kept reading only because I incorrectly assumed there was going to be some kind of point at the end. Why would the Reader even print this twisted, adolescent diatribe? So Meltzer's mother didn't love him enough when he was growing up 50 years ago. Who the hell cares?

Blaming your parents for your unhappiness has become such a cliche. I sure hope this guy gets some help. But next time he's so inspired, let's hope Meltzer regurgitates his mental vomit in the hands of a qualified therapist rather than in the Reader's pages.

Your readers deserve much better than this.
