Milo, a rambunctious farm kitten, accidentally sets sail downriver in a wooden box; Otis, the kitten's long-suffering puppy pal, takes off in pursuit along the banks. This live-action animal story was released in Japan in 1986, then bought by Columbia Pictures, which trimmed it from 90 to 76 minutes and dubbed in a new sound track. With its Japanese locales, bluegrass-inflected score, and veddy English narration by Dudley Moore, it's a cultural mishmash, but preschool children will love it. Masanori Hata directed. G.
