To the editors:

I had to admire your gutsy, clear-eyed review of the two "Spiritual" shows [July 10]. How tedious the convolutions of art-think can be! However, if you keep thinking this clearly, you're going to think yourself right out of the game, because sooner or later it's bound to occur to you that if there's anything more futile than making meaningless art, it's writing about it. (Since no one outside the game cares much anyway.)
