The Art of Touring

When: Fri., July 16, 7-11 p.m. 2010

Inspired by Sara Jaffe and Mia Clarke’s 2009 book of the same name, the Art of Touring multimedia exhibit showcases the creative ways musicians kill time in the van, on the plane, on strange city streets, or in the bar waiting for the sound guy to show up. Pieces include a Polaroid tour diary by Wilco’s Patrick Sansone, a short film from SXSW by Stavros Giannopoulos of the Atlas Moth, a loft from (Lone) Wolf & Cub’s van, and a mix tape by Kyle Woods (DJ Kid Color) meant to correspond to a painting by Drew Griffith. Some of the 20-some other contributing musicians and artists include Steve Krakow (aka Plastic Crimewave), Gina Black (the Blacks), Josh Young and Curt Cameruci (Flosstradamus), and Andy Moor (the Ex).
