The Aurora Project Closing (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 14 2014

The beauty of androids is their utter lack of sentimentality—its absence makes us realize how goofy our own human emotions can sometimes appear. Evidently someone forgot to convey this to the android in Bella Poynton's sci-fi play, who travels way too many billions of light-years waiting on a cure for the terminal disease that threatens the human he loves. Another thing: Godot aside, a play where we watch characters wait can easily wade deep into the bog of boring, and this play is drowning there. Otherworld Theatre launched a Kickstarter to fund this production, and while the money was well spent on costume design, it did nothing for the dimensionless set, which puts too much stock in the graphics on the show's one flat-screen TV. —Chloe Riley
