The Australian Bee Gees Show The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Tuesdays-Sundays. Continues through Aug. 4 2013

No, not the Latvian or Tajik Bee Gees. This "multimedia tribute concert," touring the globe for 17 years, features the real ersatz thing, although you'd be hard-pressed to know for certain how real any of it is. The trio of faux Gibb brothers belt out 28 songs (a few of which weren't Bee Gees tunes) in tight harmony, making you wonder why two backup musicians also sing into vocal mics; each instrument played by a counterfeit Bee Gee is doubled in the four-piece back-up band. There's no plot, no theatricality, no surprises, and scant between-song banter, plus a few extended video montages to buy time for costume changes. The collective musicianship is top-notch. The pointy boots are even better. —Justin Hayford
