Based on the book of the same title by Osha Gray Davidson (which was also adapted for a 2019 film), Mark St. Germain's play explores the connection between C.P. Ellis, a "Grand Cyclops" of the Ku Klux Klan, and civil rights activist Ann Atwater, who battled each other over desegregating the schools of Durham, North Carolina in 1971, until Ellis renounced his former views. Sonita L. Surratt and Mary Pat Sieck direct for Open Door Repertory.
