To satisfy the dying wish of an old friend, two former high school sweethearts (Michelle Monaghan, James Marsden) reunite at a secluded cabin after 20 years apart; she's a rich housewife married to a dopey-looking businessman, and he's a hunky oil-rig worker whose criminal relatives want him dead. That may sound like the premise for a Russ Meyer movie, but this is adapted from a romance novel by Nicholas Sparks, so all the laughs are unintentional. Director Michael Hoffman, who's seen better days (Restoration, Game 6), delivers the glossy, perfume-ad aesthetic one expects from this sort of thing.
