The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged) Closing (Theater and Galleries) Member Picks The Short List (Theater)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 7 2009

Audiences seeking sophisticated satire or a provocative take on today's religio-political controversies can skip this diverting but sophomoric comedy show, in which three actors compress "the greatest story ever accepted as fact" into two hours of groaner puns, lewd double entendres, silly songs, and audience-participation gags (viewers are hauled onstage to play the animals on Noah's ark). Written (and originally performed) by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, The Bible is presented by the Ouroboros Theatre Company under the direction of Ronald Keaton; the playful cast includes portly Chase McCurdy, fey Michael Herschberg, and droll Lindsey E. Pearlman, whose function as the trio's only female member is to point out the subservient role of women in Judeo-Christian culture's holiest text. --Albert Williams
