My thanks to Harold Henderson for reporting on Urban Recycling and the Search for Sustainable Community Development in "Reading: Blue Bags, Red Flags" (June 15).

Evaluating the blue bags collected with the garbage against separate collection, the authors offer a split decision.

Many of us committed to separate collection see it as the best route to building a sustainable city and society.

For those who would like to inform themselves, the city is sponsoring a blue bag tour at 9 AM, Saturday, June 23, at 1633 W. Medill; telephone 312-744-1614.

Resource Center separate collection can be observed at North Park Village, 5801 N. Pulaski, and Uptown Recycling, 4716 N. Sheridan. Call 773-821-1351 for hours or for further information on recycling pickup opportunities.
