The Body Image Project Recommended New Review (Theater and Comedy) The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries) Brief Run (Theater)

When: Thursdays-Saturdays. Continues through April 26 2014

Danielle Pinnock's Body Image Project is not, fortunately, about getting people to feel good about themselves, no matter what shape or size they are. No play can accomplish that. Instead, Pinnock conducted a series of interviews in the U.S. and UK in which she asked her subjects—of various ages, races, and genders—how they felt about their bodies. Then she took the transcripts and turned them into a series of eight monologues, which she performs in a one-woman show. It's a tremendous feat of acting: each character behaves, speaks, and even looks different. The stories themselves don't build to any grand conclusion, but the performance is still a work in progress, and the characters Pinnock has chosen are fascinating, particularly those who reveal more than they probably intended to. —Aimee Levitt
