Dear Mr. Dumke,
Thank you for your recent article in the Chicago Reader ["Aldermania!" February 9] However, I would like to issue this public statement to address Alderman Beale's claims that I am both "desperate" and only campaigning to seek employment.
If Alderman Beale had done his due diligence, he would have become well acquainted with my background, which includes both a bachelor's in mathematics from the University of Chicago and a master's in teaching from National-Louis University--credentials worthy of a respectable career. In addition, I resigned from my post as principal intern with the Chicago Public Schools and withdrew from a doctorate degree program in education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) to continue my public-servant work and run an efficient aldermanic campaign.
I have and will continue to run an honest campaign that will allow voters to be well informed on February 27, 2007. The people of the Ninth Ward will decide who deserves to be employed as their alderman, and that's a decision I can live with.
Earick D. Rayburn
Ninth Ward aldermanic candidate
