The Comancheros

Michael Curtiz may be the most hotly disputed director of Hollywood's golden age; his filmography includes such classics as Casablanca, Mildred Pierce, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and The Adventures of Robin Hood, but also a numbing succession of undistinguished contract pictures. This 1961 western, his last feature, stars John Wayne as a Texas Ranger trying to halt the flow of weapons and firewater to the Comanches. With Stuart Whitman and Lee Marvin. 107 min.
