The Dark Corner

99 minutes

A pretty good thriller (1946) from Henry Hathaway's noir period (13 Rue Madeleine, Call Northside 777, The House on 92nd Street), though not as good as Preminger's Laura, to which it bears striking similarities. Lucille Ball stars as a secretary helping her boss (Mark Stevens) escape a phony murder charge. With fine support from William Bendix, Clifton Webb, and Reed Hadley.
