The December Man The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Saturdays. Continues through June 28 2015

On December 6, 1989, Marc Lépine, claiming he was fighting feminism, shot and killed 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal and injured 14 more people before shooting and killing himself. Colleen Murphy's new drama begins two years later and travels backward in time to show how Lépine also indirectly kills Jean Fournier, an engineering student who was in the classroom where Lépine started his massacre and can't live with the survivor's guilt, and Jean's adoring parents, Kathleen and Benoit, who can't live without their son. Barbara Roeder Harris and Mike Speller turn in strong performances as Kathleen and Benoit, but the play itself drags on and isn't nearly as moving as it seems intended to be. —Aimee Levitt

Price: $25, $20 students and seniors
