The End of Summer | Chicago Reader

The End of Summer

A late film by Yasujiro Ozu, the Japanese director (Tokyo Story) who developed a static, austere camera style into a uniquely expressive technique. This 1961 feature, like most of Ozu's work, is a family study, following members of three generations through various romantic entanglements. With Setsuko Hara, Ganjiro Nakamura, and Yoko Tsukasa. In Japanese with subtitles. 103 min.
