The Fisherman Recommended Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through April 1 2012

"There's class warfare, all right,” billionaire Warren Buffett told the New York Times in 2006. "But it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning." Jayme McGhan's timely, heartbreaking new play takes a look at the losing side. Fiftysomething brothers Carl and Chucky have put in 35 years apiece as airline mechanics and are looking forward to a retirement spent fishing on a Minnesota lake. But then they're laid off, without pensions, by an airline whose financial woes don't affect its executives' exorbitant compensation packages. McGhan's focus on character over politics makes Carl's vengeance seem more an act of desperation than revolution. As Carl in this Stage Left Theatre staging, Michael Pacas poignantly conveys basic decency corroded by rage. —Zac Thompson
