Sean (Michael Cunio) has applied to be a cameraman at a video production company after becoming intrigued by one of its stars, and a message on his answering machine offering him the job is followed by a message offering a gofer's job on a bad independent feature. The choice is easy: shooting porn is honest, even creative work that may get Sean closer to his goal—an emotional and sexual relationship with porn star Johnny Rebel (Scott Gurney), who's as deeply in love with his girlfriend as a shallow guy can be. This engrossing, insightful tale about the causes and consequences of obsession is, like Sean's camera work, more evocative than graphic. It's also somewhat calculated and plot heavy. Richard Glatzer directed with Wash West, who wrote the screenplay. 94 min.
