The Fourth Kind

Alaskan psychologist Milla Jovovich persuades fellow shrink Elias Koteas that most of their patients have been traumatized by extraterrestrial kidnappers, but local lawman Will Patton doesn't buy it, even after Jovovich's blind daughter vanishes into thin air. Press materials for this static, talky psychodrama proclaim it to be "structured unlike any film before it," but writer-director Olatunde Osunsanmi's big formal innovation tunrs out to be the split-screen pairing of patently bogus "archival" black-and-white video that shows alleged abductees undergoing hypnosis and color "reenactments" of same. Ultimately it's up to you, the viewer, to decide which is more boring. 98 min.
