The Heart of Humanity

Though by 1919 the anti-German propaganda film had just about played out its hand, Universal made one more with Erich von Stroheim as "the man you love to hate." Von Stroheim outdid himself in this, the last film he acted in before his directorial debut in Blind Husbands. Not only does he try to rape the leading lady Dorothy Phillips, but he nonchalantly tosses a baby out of the window. Allen Holubar directs. 110 min.
