Writer-performers Tyler Bohne and Patrick Zielinski evoke the spirit of comedian, poet, and inspired madman Lord Buckley in this hipster retelling of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. The show is entertaining enough, thanks in large part to these seasoned improvisers' charm as performers. But it has little of Buckley's subversive wit: instead of using Dickens's classic to skewer the sacred cow of their choosing, Bohne and Zielinski play it safe and merely retell the story in their own slangy fashion. The result is a show that promises more than it delivers and at 60 minutes feels a little padded. Robert Rial's blues guitar accompaniment proves to be its most interesting, inventive element. Through 12/23: Wed-Sat 8:30 PM, Sun 3:30 PM, Raven Theatre, 6157 N. Clark, 773-539-2915, $7.50-$15, industry nights Thu.
