The Last Place on Earth

Phyllis Diller lends some authority to the early scenes of this cliche-ridden comedy drama, playing a cancer patient on her deathbed. Her will dictates that her ashes be strewn over the Sierra Nevada before her children can divide her large estate, so her banker son (Dana Ashbrook of Dawson's Creek) hits the road with her urn, along the way picking up a sexy, sassy traveling companion (Tisha Campbell-Martin). Healing ensues. James Slocum wrote and directed this 2002 release; with Mink Stole and Billy Dee Williams. 88 min.
