The Longest Nite

Tony Leung (Happy Together, Flowers of Shanghai) plays a cop in cahoots with a crime family in Patrick Yau's 1998 Hong Kong mob saga, based on real-life blood feuds on the island colony of Macao. Yau?s depiction of a sin city turned into a minefield by greedy, duplicitous mobsters owes much to The Godfather and Yojimbo, but the thrilling climax is an ingenious rip-off of John Woo and The Lady From Shanghai. Leung adds gravitas to the drama with his convincing portrayal of a man gradually succumbing to paranoia.
