Set amid the Halloween revels in San Francisco, this downbeat drama by writer-director Gabriel Fleming follows four young friends—straight Jasper, gay Mark, Mark's ex-girlfriend Lily, and hanger-on Caleb—as they look for parties and drugs. Jasper is bugged by a sexual encounter he had years ago in high school with Mark, who's apparently still hung up on him. The underlying tension is expressed in Nils Kenaston's somber cinematography; the mountainous coastline, roiling surf, and lush forests of northern California are bleakly beautiful. But the characters' fretting over who did what to whom many years earlier will stretch the patience of some viewers. 74 min.
