The Lost Garden The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays. Continues through July 15 2010

Elena Naskova's post-apocalyptic one-act follows a group of people who think they've found the Garden of Eden in an abandoned gas station. Unfortunately, they can't seem to get past the hedge that guards it. Is God trying to tell them something? If so, what? Directed by Donny Kolakowski, the production provides few answers. Though I enjoyed some of the special effects, Naskova's clumsy religious references left me scratching my head. The Eve of the piece, Veronica, is unsympathetic in her flirtations with serpentine Vincent and his evil apples, and boyfriend Damon spends most of his time pouting like a toddler. The play’s own PR says it best: "Nothing seems to make sense." --Marissa Oberlander

Price: $12
