The Man From the Diner's Club

Danny Kaye as a waiter who has to collect a credit-card bill from a gangster. Frank Tashlin directed this modest comedy; some of his manic visual inventiveness turns up around the edges, but the film is dominated by the fey wistfulness of Kaye's comic persona—a persona that had definitely started to droop by this late point (1963). With Martha Hyer, Cara Williams, Telly Savalas, George Kennedy, and Everett Sloane. 96 min.
