The Man in the Glass Booth

This 1975 American Film Theatre adaptation of Robert Shaw's celebrated play is completely dominated by Maximilian Schell's tour de force portrayal of Albert Goldman, a man on trial as a Nazi war criminal. Though his interpretation of Goldman can be disputed, Schell's performance knocked me out with its sheer power. Unfortunately I can't say the same of Arthur Hiller's direction, which owes more to the baroque-claustrophobic style of the AFT than to any vision of his own. 117 min.
