The Minus Man

A serial killer has an oddly altruistic motive in this disarming-misfit story, which combines elements of a road movie, romance, small-town idyll, and police procedural. Despite implying that he's a stereotypical psychopath, making him both more and less sympathetic, the movie makes an effective dramatic agent of the earnest yet deceptive killer; he?s something of a vacuum, which inspires people he meets to project their emotions onto him as he engages them in unusually compassionate relationships. Written and directed by Hampton Fancher (who cowrote the screenplay for Blade Runner), based on a novel by Lew McCreary; with Owen Wilson.
