When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 29 2019
Christopher Wheeldon's reimagined version of the holiday classic for the Joffrey enters its fourth season, and its last at the Auditorium Theatre. Set the Christmas before the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Wheeldon's staging casts Marie as an immigrant child whose mother, a sculptor, is working on the iconic Statue of the Republic. Her visit to the dream version of the World's Fair casts the specialty dances as entertainments from the various pavilions. Tchaikovsky's score, performed by the Chicago Philharmonic, is under the baton of Joffrey music director Scott Speck.
