The Patsy

Jerry Lewis expounds his theories of comedy and divine redemption in a story about a bellhop who's drafted to replace a famous comedian killed in a plane crash. Not my favorite Lewis, but it's a long way from being a bad movie. Even when the gags bomb and the pathos swells, there's a precision in Lewis's framing that's a pleasure in itself. With Ina Balin, Everett Sloane, Keenan Wynn, Peter Lorre, John Carradine, and Nancy Kulp.
