The Perfect Man

Wholesome Hilary Duff has a problem: her knockout single mother (Heather Locklear) keeps getting dumped and dragging her kids to a new town in search of romance. So to forestall another such move, Duff plays matchmaker between mom and handsome Chris Noth. The premise is patently ridiculous, but the target audience of 12-year-old girls will be too charmed by the genre requisites to care. These include a soft-rock sound track, a cute boy who draws, and comic relief from a limp-wristed gay waiter named Lance (Carson Kressley of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy). Mark Rosman directed a script by Gina Wendkos (The Princess Diaries). PG, 100 min.
