The Private Life of Don Juan

Douglas Fairbanks's last film (1930), a wry account of the twilight years of the notorious seducer in which the ladies he encounters find him disappointing compared to the image he presented of himself in his famous memoirs. Audiences were perplexed by the new Fairbanks, hair thinning and waistline spreading, and they stayed away—though the picture has more than its share of charming touches.
