The Revenge of Frankenstein | Chicago Reader

The Revenge of Frankenstein

Saved from the guillotine, the good doctor (Peter Cushing) sets up a hospital in another central European town and, aided by a young disciple, creates a human with body parts from his patients. Terence Fisher directed this 1958 sequel to Hammer's The Curse of Frankenstein; his work is strictly grade B, especially when it mixes pathos and comedy, and the horror seems dated, almost camp. But Cushing delivers a multidimensional performance as the misogynistic, autocratic Frankenstein. 91 min.
