The music in this 50-minute show almost makes up for its clunky, crass, cobbled-together comedy scenes about a mild-mannered loafer on a single day of eclectic adventures. Writer-performer Sam Locke plays the mandolin well, and some of the tunes are pretty funny, but his singing is lacking. The Country Doctors amped up opening night, but it's uncertain how well a different musical act will work each week, plopped into a show that's already awkwardly structured. Six writers are credited, including two other writer-performers, and the tone varies clumsily. The common denominators in this unsatisfying evening are dumb, gross-out, and geek humor. --Jenn Goddu a Through 8/15: Wed 9:30 PM, Annoyance Theatre, 4840 N. Broadway, 773-561-4665, $8.
