No one will ever match David Sedaris in the role of David Sedaris, but that doesn't stop Chicago's A-list actors from trying. The last time I saw The SantaLand Diaries, Lance Baker did the honors as well as can be imagined; here Joe Foust takes a kinder, gentler tack, arguably less faithful to the original tone but probably a better idea: antiholiday holiday fare is still, well, holiday fare. Foust commands both stage and audience, breathing good cheer into even the bitchiest of Sedaris's complaints. Through 12/31: Thu 7:45 PM, Fri-Sat 7:15 and 9 PM, Sun 3:30 and 7 PM, Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 W. Belmont, 773-327-5252, $22-$24.
