The Second Time Machine Closing (Theater and Galleries) Recommended The Short List (Theater)

When: Saturdays. Continues through Sept. 7 2013

Sketch comedy has to be smart to work, and the Business is all brains. Sans substantive script, the four performers who make up this troupe play time-traveling iterations of Jason, an applied theoretical physicist who lives with his mom. The premise is straightforward, sort of: Jason has to repair the hole he accidentally tore in the space-time continuum. The performers race (with mixed timing and some dead air) to construct a second time machine from the flotsam and jetsam of human history and interplanetary space: a growing tower of file drawers, microwaves, laptops, VCRs, lamps, a bouquet of flowers, etc. At the same time as they're trying to prevent the implosion of the universe, this multitude of Jasons also discuss dating, daddy issues, and whether free will exists under Back to the Future rules, Terminator rules, or perhaps not at all. —Marya Hornbacher
