San Diego’s THE SOFT PACK, formerly the Muslims, are an agreeably angular postpop band with a high-kicking bounce. Their tunes would sound like minimal garage if it weren’t for the relaxed way they parcel out information: now there’s singing, now keyboard, now a screeching two-note solo. They’d make a fun-times party band—at their worst, you’ll hear shades of the Strokes, except with a lot more clanging and sha-la-laing going on, like the Modern Lovers minus all the love poetry and giggles. You could do a lot worse on a Wednesday night in the dead of winter. This show is part of the Tomorrow Never Knows festival. -Jessica Hopper
Price: $15 ($55 for a five-day pass), 18+.
