The Time Machine

H.G. Wells's novel turned into a showcase for George Pal's special effects (1960). Rod Taylor is the Victorian scientist who eventually works his way forward to 802701, where he finds Yvette Mimieux at the mercy of the Morlocks, a race of shaggy blond ape-men. Parts of it are colorful and imaginative, but the film flattens out toward the end. With Alan Young and Sebastian Cabot. 103 min.
