The True Nature of Bernadette | Chicago Reader

The True Nature of Bernadette

Micheline Lanctot is a Montreal housewife who abandons her dull mate and goes off with her son in search of real life; she settles on a farm in a remote corner of Quebec and goes into the earth mother business, caring for the cloddish locals who soon throng from miles around to exploit her. Gilles Carle directed this bitter, meandering, but engagingly impious satire; with Donald Pilon, Reynald Bouchard, and Willie Lamothe (1972).
