The Tuxedo

Jackie Chan ages gracelessly in this inert 2002 comedy about a New York cabbie who fills in for a sidelined secret agent, donning a Giorgio Armani tux that equips him with special fighting and dancing skills (its settings include “rifle sniper” and “shake booty”). A first feature by Kevin Donovan, this centers on a scheme for world domination involving a lethal dehydrating virus, though the story hinges on the unlikely notion that alarms are triggered at North America's reservoirs whenever the water's surface is broken. Michael J. Wilson and Michael Leeson's inept script delivers a series of juvenile gags (in one scene the tongue-tied cabbie tries to woo an art gallery employee while dressed in a Hooters T-shirt) and creaky shtick by the 48-year-old action star. 99 min.
