The Vic and Paul Show New Review (Theater and Comedy)

When: Wednesdays-Saturdays. Continues through Dec. 30 2011

Real-life married couple Victoria Zielinski and Paul Barrosse open this two-person show with a charming, disarmingly honest number about the challenges of parenthood and feeling that they had to wait for their kids to grow up before they could perform again.(Practical Theater Company veterans, their hiatus lasted 20 years.) Little of what follows is as candid, frank, or funny. For the most part, Zielinski and Barrosse deliver formulaic, overlong Second City-style sketches filled with stock characters, predictable twists, and jabs at all the usual infotainment suspects (Tiger Woods, Sandra Bullock's cheating ex, the Kardashians). The pair win big laughs when they talk or sing about something real and true. But that's not often enough. —Jack Helbig
