This Train Recommended The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Aug. 1 2010

Already a gem when it ran at Berwyn's 16th Street Theater in January, Tony Fitzpatrick's show about hobo life and lore has been revised and revived for a second run. Although the audiovisual elements--videos and slides--are more polished and Fitzpatrick's delivery is more relaxed here, the script remains almost word-for-word the same. And that's a good thing. Fitzpatrick is a natural storyteller, equally at home getting laughs or making a point, and his wide-ranging material (he talks about everything from hobo sign language to Studs Terkel) is strong. He recounts the plot to The Emperor of the North, a 1973 hobo movie, so vividly you want to run out and rent it. --Jack Helbig
